During pregnancy does multiple birth have an effect on how much a womans breasts enlarge? My girlfriend and I recently discovered we are expecting a baby. She has had a guy before and said her breasts are significantly larger now than in her previous pregnancy at this stage. Does this possibly mean we could be looking at having twins? If not, any ideas on what the cause can be attributed to? |
| Having multiples doesn't cause your breass to get bigger than if it were just one. That's why most moms of multiples have to supplement with formula as well as breastfeeding...their breasts don't compensate for how many babies they're having, at least not until after the babies have started breastfeeding. They're probably bigger now because they grew once for her first pregnancy and are growing a second time for this one. |
What would be the consequences if a person opts not to undergo surgery for multiple benign breast cysts? I have been diagnosed with multiple breast cysts via sonnomammogram and was referred to a surgeon but I chose not to because I am afraid that if ever the tresult would be positive for malignancy in the biopsy , I wouldn't have the financial capacity for medication , and I wouldn't be ready to face the painful truth ... |
| it takes a while before it turns to be malignancy.it's better to prevent than to cure and with much less cost!if you suspend it it will become something else (I don't mean necessarily breast cancer),more difficult to cure.don't be afraid and do the surgery when it's still early.Good luck! |
Ladies, do your breasts have multiple personalities? You know like: happy, grumpy, sleepy, bashful, perky, nipply... I can't remember the other 7th dwarf's name, damnit! |
| **hopes the 7th dwarf's name was "picture-takey"** |
Multiple lumps in both breasts? i am 18 years old and i noticed that i have like multiple consecutive lumps in both of my breasts. there is not one single one but lumps in order, kind of like ribs.
do you think these are rib bones or breast cancer lumps?
p.s. my mom has breast cancer.
that might change some answers. |
Impossible to answer in a question like this. Would need a medical person to do an actual exam.
But from the way you phrase the question, it does sound like you are feeling the ribs "consecutively". They feel different than one expects from pictures. And you are aware that you may be over-interpreting a normal feeling because of your mom's cancer.
I have never, ever heard of "multiple consecutive lumps in both breasts", and I know a lot of docs and other medical people. Read a lot, too.
Sorry about yr mom, and sorry yr feeling stressed about this. A lot are cured today. |
9 month old. multiple cysts in breasts? My nine month old girl recently had an ultrasound of her breasts. It appears to be multiple cysts in both breasts. I noticed them from 5 months ago in one breast only but assumed it was breast buds. They appeared to be a little larger so this prompted me to speak to my pediatrician. Can you give or refer me to more information on infant breasts cysts. There seems to be not enough information on infant breast cysts on the web. |
If you have googled the internet and can't find the information you are looking for call your doctor. Their job is to not only diagnosis and treat but to make sure that you are completely satisfied with information.

Does having multiple breast lumps mean I don't have breast cancer? I am a 14 year old girl. In my right breast I have a few small lumps. Since there is more than one, I have heard that it is not likely to be cancerous. Is that true? |
Considering your age as much as anything, I doubt these lumps are cancerous. But dear, if you have discernable lumps in your breast, I think someone ought to check them out. Get your mom to get you an appointment.... doesn't have to be a gyn, can be your regular family doctor.
I know you're young and the notion of a breast check may be scary or embarrassing. I promise you, it's not a big deal - over in just a minute or two. And besides, you'll get some good instruction in self-exam technique from the doctor or nurses.

If you have multiple similar breast lumps, is it unlikely cancer? It's said that usually breast cancer lumps are not symmetric (appearing on both breasts). So if you have say 2-3 small pea-sized rather hard lumps in each breast (that is 4-6 total), most movable but some maybe hard to tell whether movable or not, is it unlikely to be cancer? |
| It depends..See your doctor.. I have multiple small nodules on both breasts and was detected when I was 22 yrs old but surgery is not recommended. The doctor's advise is to have an ultrasound and mammogram yearly to monitor it...After more than 10 yrs now...the nodules are still here but no health risks..I just continue to have it monitored and checked. Not all lumps are cancerous but of course you have to check with your doctor and do not assume. It is easier and safe to have a regular check up than get surprised. |
Multiple bumps on my breasts? I have bumps on my breast I know this may sound disturbing but it looks like I have numerous nipples on each breast and its very gross! Is it serious and can it be fixed? |
I think those are not bumps........do you mean something beside your nipples and within the areola and are they become more prominent upon orgasm or prior to period ,,,,, you must clear that out to be able to help

Can the cysts in my breasts be dangerous? I'm 19 years old. I have multiple cysts in both breasts, they don't go away, they are very painful. The doctor said I shouldn't worry, yet again, he has mis diagnosed me for something else before....Could they possibly be dangerous? |
i'm in the same situation with fibrocystic breasts (basically means breasts prone to developing benign lumps). it's so hard not to be anxious about them all the time. i had a big lump in one breast for like 8 months before it started to shrink. did your doc say he would aspirate (drain) them if you wanted? i was given that option. they basically numb your skin and poke a needle in and drain the cyst. i opted not to, but if it hadn't gone away after a whole year i think i would have, because it's really annoying.
i've asked multiple doctors about this and whether having fibrocystic breasts puts you at increased risk of breast cancer and all of them have said no, not at all. online sources say the same thing. it seems like we just have to deal with annoying lumps and the fear every time we get checked out that one might be a bad lump. sorry i can't give you a clearer answer, but the short of it is, they are not dangerous, just a pain (literally). |
Doctor felt multiple lumps in my breast when I went in about one particular lump. Is breast cancer usually mul? multiple lumps all over the breasts? both breasts? My doctor is really worried. Her face looked like she saw a ghost. :( She's going to do an ultrasound on monday and a mamogram on next thursday. I'm in my late thirties. I hope I don't die. |
| Dear "no it isn't," - Relax! Breast cancer does NOT usually present as multiple lumps. What you describe in both your breasts is classical, rather common :fibrocystic changes of the breast. Those multiple lumps are basically fluid-filled cysts. They tend to vary in size every month, often getting larger, then smaller. Over half of all women will have some fibrocystic breast changes. Almost all doctors know that the simple office procedure of putting a syringe needle through the skin into the center of the lump will yield clear fluid of a benign lesion and cause the one lump to immediately disappear. Because one lump could be different, it's still a good idea to do a mammogram or ultrasound. If your doctor is really worried or worries you, then you may need to switch doctors and find one who is more re-assuring of this common, benign change. Try a Google computer search for - fibrocystic changes of the breast.. |
